03More positions

Add as many as you are curious about

Two positions answer one question. Four or five answer the question you actually have: of the positions available to you, which is worth riding? Each one is photographed the same way and enters the same comparison.

No baseline, no privileged position

Because nothing is designated as the reference, adding a position later does not invalidate what came before — it just joins the ranking. The watt figures in a report are expressed against the slowest position in your set, which is derived from your own data rather than chosen in advance.

One change at a time

If you drop your torso and narrow your arms and change your helmet all at once, the comparison tells you the total difference but not which change earned it. Isolating one change per position is how you learn what is worth keeping.

This is also why small variations are worth submitting: two centimetres of stem height is a position in its own right.

The fastest position is not automatically the best

A more aerodynamic position can save watts, and still be the wrong position. Comfort, breathing, visibility, bike handling and your ability to actually produce power all matter.

The most useful position is the one you can hold and pedal hard in for the duration you actually ride. Treat a result as information, not as an instruction.
